This study explored the suitability of simulation tools for accurately predicting fluidized bed gasification in various scenarios without disturbing operational system, and dedicating time to experimentation, aim benefiting decision makers investors low-carbon waste-based bioenergy sector, accelerating circular bioeconomy solutions. More specifically, this aimed offer a customized solution rice processing residue. The objectives were economic assessment an air atmospheric system fueled with husk, combined heat power generation, by using Aspen Plus V9, Process Economic Analyzer. model was based on Gibbs energy minimization concept. technological configurations SMARt-CHP technology used. A parametric conducted understand influence process variables product yield, while three different compared: (1) gasification; (2) steam (3) oxygen-steam gasification-based scenario. Simulated results show good accuracy prediction H2 syngas from gasification, but not other gas components, especially regarding CO CH4 content. It seems that RGIBBS free concept is far simulating operation gasifier. scenario capacity 25.000 t/y husk assessed its viability. resulted net annual earnings EUR 5.1 million positive revenue 168/(t/y), excellent pay out (POT = 0.21) return investment (ROI 2.8). are dependent choices assumptions made.
